NSA Member of the Month Program

Welcome to the
NSA Member of the Month Program
“Excellence endures and sustains. It goes beyond motivation into the realm of inspiration.”
Azim Premji
NSA’s Member of the Month Program was established as an important tradition of the organization because we believe that excellence should be rewarded as they serve as inspiration and motivation for other members to follow.
While it is difficult to single out one awesome member when all members are awesome, we’ve narrowed our search to those who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to the Society, their participation in its programs, and who serve as an inspiration for other members.
If you are an NSA member and would like to nominate another member as a Member of the Month, please submit their name and your rationale for why they should be recognized. Please send nominations to membership@nsacct.org.
JANUARY MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Joanne M. Elsen CPA, PC
Phoenix, AZ
We are pleased to announce that Joanne, CPA, of Phoenix, AZ, has been selected as NSA Member-of-the-Month for her exceptional dedication to the profession and her active involvement in NSA programs.
Joanne’s remarkable journey in accounting spans over 55 years, beginning with a bookkeeping course and a position at the University of Minnesota’s Glass Blowing Department. In 1970, she married her high school sweetheart and relocated to Fort Hood, TX, where she discovered her passion for working with a variety of clients at a CPA firm. Over the next 17 years, Joanne lived in five states before settling in Illinois, gaining invaluable experience working with small business owners and helping them grow their enterprises. Inspired by these experiences, she pursued her goal of becoming a CPA, earning her BS in Accounting from Northern Illinois University in 1996 and becoming certified in 1994. She spent five years as a staff accountant and later as a partner at a local CPA firm before establishing her own firm in 2000. Joanne continued her practice until relocating to Phoenix, AZ, in 2006.
After moving to Phoenix and leaving her circle of colleagues, Joanne joined NSA, finding it to be her lifeline during tax season. Through NSA, she has built lasting friendships, benefited from leadership training, and served as a State Director. She considers the TaxTalk network an indispensable resource, especially when preparing taxes across multiple states. “The ability to reach out to trusted colleagues in every state has been invaluable,” she shares.
Joanne’s decades of experience have taught her that clients can still surprise her, change is inevitable, and there’s always something new to learn. Her advice to new professionals in the industry is clear: “You need mentors and a network like TaxTalk for those moments when you’re overwhelmed, need reassurance, or face a challenge you’ve never encountered before.”
In addition to her professional achievements, Joanne cherishes her personal life. She enjoys spending time with her three married children and six grandchildren, relaxing with a good book, and doting on her seven-year-old Yorkie, Cooper.
Congratulations, Joanne, on this well-deserved recognition and for your significant contributions to the NSA community! Your dedication to the profession and your unwavering commitment to mentoring and supporting others is truly inspiring.

APRIL MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Mary Roberts, ATP
Aurora Accounting Solutions, Inc. Charlotte, NC
The National Society of Accountants (NSA) proudly announces February’s Member of the Month, Mary Roberts, in recognition of her dedication to the accounting profession and her active participation in NSA programs.
Mary’s career in accounting began in high school when she started working at her mother’s tax practice. Over the years, she honed her skills and developed a deep passion for helping individuals and small businesses manage their finances. When her mother passed away, Mary took over the firm, continuing its legacy as a small, full-service accounting practice offering tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, accounting, and consulting services.
An NSA member for 11 years, Mary values the organization’s strong sense of community and the opportunity to connect with fellow professionals. She actively engages with NSA’s resources, particularly “Tax Talk,” which she finds invaluable for staying informed and expanding her expertise.

MAY MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Rondi Lindquist, EA
Bella Vista, AR
NSA proudly announces May’s Member of the Month, Rondi Lindquist, EA, in recognition of her outstanding dedication to the accounting profession and ongoing engagement within the Society. With a career spanning nearly 30 years in the financial industry, she has held roles from margin clerk on Black Monday ’87 to Financial Principal and Compliance Officer for a small broker/dealer.
Although she briefly served as a registered representative, she soon realized her passion was more aligned with risk management and problem-solving than advising others on investments. In 2010, she launched her own bookkeeping business, leaning into her strength—reconciliations and resolving bookkeeping discrepancies. She studied through the American Institute of Bookkeepers and became a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. As her client base grew, so did her role—earning her EA license 12 years ago to better serve those needing tax return preparation.
An NSA member since 2018, she values the support and knowledge-sharing found in NSA’s Tax Talk community. She shares, “With Tax Talk, I never feel like I’m working alone.” While she sold her tax practice two-and-a-half years ago, she continues to manage the small office she built and maintains a select client base. This tax season will be her last in that capacity.
Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, she now resides in the scenic Ozarks of Northwest Arkansas—“the mountain biking capital of the world.” Though she doesn’t consider herself a hillbilly yet, she’s fully embraced the lakes, hills, and lifestyle of the region.
She humbly adds, “I get far more out of NSA than I contribute,” and continues to value lifelong learning and the insight of her peers.
JUNE MEMBER OF THE MONTH
Peter Gonzalez, EA
Clermont, FL
The National Society of Accountants (NSA) proudly announces June’s Member of the Month, Peter Gonzalez, EA, in recognition of his decades-long dedication to the accounting profession and his commitment to ethical, client-focused service.
Peter’s journey into the profession began in 1974, when he joined his late father’s tax and accounting firm, Pego Tax Services, founded in 1967. What started as a family legacy quickly became a lifelong vocation. In 2002, Peter formally took over the firm and later renamed it Prestige Tax Services Corp., continuing to build on the foundation his father laid.
Peter describes his practice as a family-oriented business that strives to educate clients and guide them toward doing what’s right. “If you must pay tax, then so be it,” he says. “If you have a refund, it’s because you contributed more than the tax required.” His approach reflects a commitment to honesty, transparency, and helping clients understand their financial responsibilities.
Since becoming an NSA member in 2014, Peter has embraced the organization’s values, especially its Code of Ethics, which he proudly displays in his office. He believes staying professional, no matter the situation, is the most important lesson he’s learned throughout his career.
Peter’s academic background includes an Associate of Arts in Pre-Business Administration, an Associate in Science in Banking and Finance, a Bachelor of Accounting from Florida International University, and a Master of Taxation from Nova Southeastern University, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. In 2012, he earned his Enrolled Agent designation.
In addition to running his firm, Peter has been an active leader in the professional community. He is the Immediate Past President of the Broward County Chapter of Enrolled Agents, served for eight years as Vice-President of the Miami-Dade Chapter, and was Vice-President of the Florida Society of Enrolled Agents from 2021 to 2022. He’s also passionate about education, having taught Income Tax Accounting at Miami Dade College and currently serving as an instructor with the Latin American Business Institute. Since 2022, he’s participated in the USA Tax Convention’s “Ask the Experts” panel.
For newcomers to the profession and to NSA, Peter offers this heartfelt advice: “When you leave this wonderful profession, leave it in better shape than when you began. Do not cheapen yourself by trying to please everyone, do what is correct for the profession and for yourself.”
Peter Gonzalez, EA, exemplifies integrity, service, and the spirit of mentorship. NSA is proud to honor him as our June Member of the Month.

DECEMBER MEMBER OF THE MONTH
TERESA MOORE, EA, RTRP, AFSP
Teresa L Moore, Accountant
We are pleased to announce that Teresa Moore, EA, RTRP, AFSP, of Torrington, WY, has been selected as NSA Member-of-the-Month for her outstanding dedication to the profession and active participation in NSA programs.
Teresa’s journey in accounting began in high school, inspired by her love for math and a counselor’s suggestion. Her career path led her from local accounting jobs to earning her BA in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude, while raising a family and working full-time.
In 2008, Teresa established her own accounting practice specializing in tax preparation and payroll services. Most of her clients are small businesses and farm and ranch families. She also works with clergy and nonprofits. She met the requirements to be an EA in 2019 and is currently president of the Wyoming Association of Public Accountants.
Former NSA presidents and committee chairmen, from Wyoming, encouraged her to join NSA in 2009. She has found significant value in NSA’s networking resources, particularly Tax Talk, which she describes as very essential for a sole practitioner. “It’s like having a colleague beside me to discuss challenges,” she says, acknowledging members such as Ellen Briscoe, Debra Stapek, Mark Nelson Jr., Hyman Zacharia, and William Delaney for their contributions of tax knowledge.
Teresa also encourages new members to utilize NSA’s educational opportunities, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning in a constantly evolving industry. Her advice to anyone going into this industry is to remember that “Clients trust us because we listen and build relationships. Artificial Intelligence may assist, but it can never replace the trust and understanding of a human accountant.”
Congratulations, Teresa, on this well-deserved recognition and for your contributions to the NSA community!
