Call to Volunteer

Thank you for being a member of the National Society of Accountants. We are delighted to have you as part of our team and are excited to see you here expressing your interest in being more involved.

Our volunteer engagement program is constantly evolving, and you are part of that advancement. As you interact with the staff, leadership, and processes of the organization, we welcome your input and suggestions. Are there things you would like to volunteer for that you don’t see, let us know. Is there a way you think something could be done more effectively, please send along an email. We ask you to offer solutions to any challenges you find, but we are wide open to your input (especially if you are volunteering to make it happen).

The following form lets us know who you are and where your interests lay. We have deliberately kept it short and easy to fill out. Once you have completed this form, you will receive a packet of information about participating, and a member of the team will reach out and connect with you via the phone to talk through your talents and areas of interest. Who knows, together we might end up adding in new opportunities that aren’t currently on the form.

Please keep in mind that if you volunteer, we will be relying on you. We want you to help us make a difference. So we are not asking you to do things that have no meaning. You get to contribute at the level you want, but we need to know how much you feel you can really commit (outside of tax season of course).

(Please keep in mind we will only ask you to be active in one area at a time, so you can sign up for as many as you like. When we call you, we can discuss what opportunities are the most interesting to you, and if you want to change it up, you can do so at any time.)

Committees & Leadership: Are you looking to help shape the future of the NSA? Check the box to get on our list of prospective committee members and task force participants.

Speaking & Presenting: Are you interested in sharing your knowledge on a webinar, a panel discussion, a podcast, or an in person meeting? If you are open to being a potential speaker/presenter, please check this box. We will ask you about subjects and formats when we call.

Online Community Moderation: Tax Talk, Social Media, and other channels are fast becoming the most active means of communicating among our members. Are you interested in helping us to support out community and curb inappropriate comments? We are looking for people who will help answer questions about using the technology, help ensure that statements are factually accurate, and make us aware of any personal attacks or inappropriate content being posted. We will train you on the system, and staff will handle any interactions with posters that require moderation. If you want to help people in our online communities and learn more about the system, check this box.

Membership Recruitment & Onboarding: Are you good at helping identify people who should be members and inviting them to join? Would you like to chat with some of our new members and help them get the most from their NSA membership? Check this box if you are friendly and want to help us increase membership.

Information and Communications: Do you have an eye out for changes at the IRS, Congress, or your local regulatory agencies? Are you good at finding resources that help people get their work done? Want to help us get the word out ASAP to members about new rules, tools, and processes that will make a difference to the small office member? Check the box if you want to help keep watch over changes and get the word out immediately on new info.

Writers: Do you like to write? Are you good at taking info and writing up a short piece that helps others understand? Would you like to create content for the website, blogs, eNewsletter, or other communications channels? Check the box if you like to write and want to be one of our content creators.

Mentoring: Have you been around the block? Do you find yourself helping others avoid your mistakes or take advantage of things that they might miss? Are you a good coach? Let us know you are interested in being part of the mentoring program and supporting professionals who are new in our field.
