Joshua C. Caulfield, DBA, IOM
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Joshua Caulfield, DBA, IOM, worked in non-profit associations since 1997 and has been the CEO of six organizations resulting in significant revenue and membership growth. Mr. Caulfield has received presidential awards from the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and earned the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management (IOM) certification.
Joshua is a published author of several articles and books on Organizational Management and Membership Recruitment, including “Outreach: Recruiting Members Painlessly”.
He is an accomplished speaker on technology adaptation, pricing policy, and leadership topics and he has developed programs for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
Lauren B. Nilssen, CMP, CMM, CAE, AFSP
Deputy Executive Director
Lauren Nilssen, CMP, CMM, CAE, AFSP, has over 25 years of non-profit association experience and 20 years as a registered tax professional solving tax issues. Lauren worked as a technical editor for KMPG, a Big-4 accounting firm, and she was an event planner for non-profit association board meetings and an industry consultant. Ms. Nilssen also teaches future association executives who are preparing for the Certification of Association Executives (CAE) exam.
Lauren has lived and worked as a journalist in Moscow, Russia, and has traveled extensively. She lives in Arlington, VA with her husband.
John C. Overington
Director of Membership
John brings almost a decade of association management experience, including membership support, acquisition, communications, and strategic partnerships. Previously, he has occupied various roles in human resource management and served as a federal finance contractor. In 2019, John was selected to participate in ASAE’s NextGen summit and is currently pursuing his CAE certification. He resides in Alexandria, VA, with his wife and son.
Kemi Barleycorn

Kemi Barleycorn holds a Bachelor’s in Neuroscience and Psychology from Tulane University. With a background in social work, he brings empathy and organizational expertise to his role as Education Manager at NSA. Kemi is committed to building connections and driving the growth of NSA. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, photography, and traveling.
Cindy Lopez
Membership Manager

Cindy Lopez joins NSA as the operations manager and manages the office operations for the association. Cindy has over 15 years of experience in the non-profit world. She has worked as an office manager for JKS Systems, based in Fairfax, VA, and for the Institute of Makers of Explosives (IME) in Washington, DC.
